Bighorn Lodge |
The Lodge is owned and managed by Dave Nye. Common Areas include a large dining room, fireplace area, TV area, a comfortable living room for visiting or reading, a lonely chess table on the balcony above the fire place, large decks on the front and back of the lodge, and great reading areas with a selection of over 500 books from autobiographies, all the sciences, History, poetry, fiction, nonfiction to every book that Louie L’amour ever wrote. Our Amenities include a large deck overlooking the Bull river, with a commanding view of Berray Mountain rising 4000 feet above the lodge and only a quarter mile away. We have mountain bikes, canoes, Kayaks, and a Johnboat for use on the river 100 feet from the lodge. Dave uses a 17’ Mckenzie river drift boat for guided fishing or scenic river floats on nearby larger rivers. For those who like a little larger boat and body of water we have a 25-foot sailboat on nearby Lake Pend Oreille (guided or unguided if you have a current captain’s license). Last but not least there is without a doubt no place that I know of in our country with a better selection of wild life to view than the immediate area surrounding the lodge. In this day and age can you imagine having seen from your back yard moose, elk, deer, black bear, beaver, otter, bald eagle, osprey, four varieties of cold water trout and more? This is not a zoo so I must be honest and tell you it took us about a year to see them all from our back deck. Special events at the lodge include Family get-togethers and Corporate retreats.
You couldn’t find a more beautiful setting for an outdoor or indoor gathering of your choice. We are experienced at servicing groups of all kinds. The entire lodge can sleep up to 23 people, depending on privacy requirements. Our other pages give more details on some of the above such as Guided fishing. We hope you enjoy and take the time to look through the rest of our web site. I feel it gives an accurate depiction of the lodge and the surrounding areas. |
