The River House was built for small groups of four to six people. It is very private and totally self-sufficient. It cannot be beat for a family vacation house. When my children were young we brought them to a similar place in the Bitterroot Valley where we would stay for two weeks with no television or telephone. At night we did really corny things like playing such sophisticated card games as slapjack. During the day we hiked, fished, explored and camped out. I was their hero every day until they reached that wonderful age where other things became paramount to them. The important point here is that we formed all these fantastic memories which would come to be very important to all of us in the future. This is why I enjoy families with children using the river house or lodge as a place to stay while they explore one of the last places in our country with so much unspoiled nature to see and experience in a remote setting. We have several canoes, a couple kayaks and a johnboat for you to use on the river.

The house/cabin is only about two hundred feet from the lodge and one hundred feet from the Bull River, which is our northern property boundary. It has recently become very popular with couples on a honeymoon or celebrating an anniversary due to its privacy and beautiful setting. The River house rents like two rooms but when it is available we reduce the price for just two people. Please visit our reservations page for all our pricing.

Our pictures are the best way to see what you think of the River House so I will give a rather quick description. It is a two-story structure with 950 square feet on the main floor and 350 square feet on the second floor, which is a loft bedroom and bath. Sleeping arrangements in the loft are a King bed or two twins and a sofa sleeper. The main floor has a master bedroom with a Queen bed and a bath. It also has a full kitchen, separate dinning area, a living room with television and a great corner fireplace. A local stone mason using stone from a nearby mountain constructed the fireplace. We provide you with plenty of firewood during the colder months. The front of the house faces the river and Berray mountain which rises to six thousand feet (The lodge elevation is 2300 feet). The base of the mountain is only one-quarter mile from the lodge across the river valley so you can imagine the view. There is also a very large deck on the riverside, which has unbelievable views both up and down river. The living room, open to the second story has large glass windows clear to the roof giving you the same great view as from the deck.
